Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Altario ("the Service"), operated at altario.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Altario is a cloud-based church management platform that provides tools for member management, event scheduling, communication, donation processing, worship planning, and related church administration functions.

3. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • One person or organization may not maintain more than one free account.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

  • The Service offers free and paid subscription plans.
  • Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe.
  • You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time.
  • Subscription refunds may be issued within 14 days of purchase for billing errors. Contact support@altario.app with proof of payment. Individual donations processed through church donation pages are non-refundable; refund requests must be directed to the church.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Store or transmit malicious code or harmful content.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Use the Service to send unsolicited bulk communications (spam).
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without written permission.

6. Data Ownership

You retain all ownership rights to the data you enter into the Service. We do not claim ownership of your church data, member information, or any content you create. You grant us a limited license to host, store, and process your data solely to provide the Service.

7. Data Protection

We take the protection of your data seriously. Church member data is sensitive and we treat it accordingly. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your information.

8. Donations and Stripe Connect

Churches using our donation feature connect their own Stripe account via Stripe Connect. Donation funds are transferred directly to the church's Stripe account. Altario does not hold or manage donation funds. Stripe's terms of service apply to all payment processing.

9. Service Availability

We strive to maintain 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform scheduled maintenance with advance notice. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your data will be retained for 30 days to allow for export, after which it will be permanently deleted.

11. Church Responsibilities

Churches using Altario are responsible for: obtaining appropriate consent from members before entering their personal data; complying with applicable data protection laws (including GDPR where applicable); ensuring WhatsApp messages are only sent to members who have opted in; and maintaining the accuracy of member data. Altario provides the tools; the church manages the relationship with its members.

12. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach affecting your church's information, Altario will notify affected church administrators promptly and cooperate with any investigation. Our total liability for any breach shall not exceed the amount paid for the Service in the preceding 12 months.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Altario shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
